Good Vibrations!! Part I Physical Energy

How many of you have started implemented mandatory “me days” because you keep hearing the importance of “self-care” over and over?  Well I’m here to tell you it’s true, very true.  I am a workhorse by nature and I never really gave it much thought until I became “un-well”.  My body called me out.  It was time I took a vested interest in my physical health, my physical energy*, once and for all.  I had way too much on my plate and never enough time to get it all done.  It scared me because I had always been health conscious so what had happened? Complacency, that’s what happened.  Life got busy and I just wasn't taking the time to make the best choices longterm.  I relied on convenience...  Bad move, but I have since forgiven myself and now I know better - a whole lot better!

And so became my mission to find ways to manage my stress and improve my overall health, my physical energy*.   Knowing that massage therapy is recommended for stress, I gave it a go.  I was never one for massages in the past but I quickly learned how truly amazing they can be with skilled hands.  At first I started off with gentle massage and then graduated into bodywork.  Mind you bodywork is not always pleasurable in the moment but the energetic release that followed was pretty awesome!  I had several injuries lingering in my tissues from past trauma/accidents that over time spoke louder and louder - needing attention. Interesting side note - when we experience traumatic events, it’s not uncommon to leave our bodies as a form of protection, (totally true for me, I was so out of touch with my physical body and it showed).  I will have more on that in another blog. Very, very interesting subject!

And so after reuniting with my physical body I really started paying attention.  We were communicating on a whole other level from what I had been used to before.  That’s when I became interested in the quality of food I’d been consuming.  Organic food was nothing new, it’s been around for years but never something I was drawn to.  Curious though, I did an experiment - I tried a few things, vegetables mostly and then eventually chicken and what I found was that organic food tasted better!  Not only did it taste better but it's texture and the color was more actual - even the size was normal.  Enter in GMO knowledge “bigger is not always better"!  Noticing these differences I got to researching the why.  Genetically modified foods are just that, genetically.modified.food.  Food messed around with.  Research also revealed that organics are held to a different standard and processing all together, which makes sense.  But what blew my mind were the chemicals associated with GMO‘s.  The number one GMO crops are corn, soy, cotton seed, alfalfa, papaya, canola and sugar beets.  And guess what, about 95% of animals used for meat and dairy in the US eat food made from GMO crops!  Not to mention that nearly all processed and boxed food preparations are loaded with GMO ingredients!!  How does one avoid this??  The biggest change I made was eliminating all processed and convenient foods from my diet.  Not just because of the GMO's but because of the high salt and sugar content.  And know that when I speak of GMO‘s, I am referring to Monsanto, the big food conglomerate.  Does Round Up sound familiar?  I get fired up about this and I encourage you to start digging around.  Knowledge is power!!  I know I’m not the only one to post about this topic but I do hope that you start to see the bigger picture here.  You are what you eat.  Food is thy medicine.  I say this all the time.

I don't want processed anything in my body!  I want real food.  I want good food that is is nutrient dense that keeps me well nourished.  After making these changes in my diet and in my life I began to notice something - I was feeling better.  I was empowered.  I was armed with knowledge and making better decisions about my health and vitality.  I listened to the cues my body was giving me and when something didn’t feel right I’d make another adjustment.  And overtime (several years) I converted fully.  I even gave up gluten.  I have no known allergy to gluten but I do have a sensitivity and I just feel better without it.  I happily and healthfully found substitutes and some really great cookbook authors who were on the same page as I.  It made life so much easier.

After finally being able to ditch my medication, I knew I was on the right track.  It became purposeful for me to create a whole new level of wellness for myself. The goal was to raise my vibration and to regenerate my operating systems (my organs).  To clear my body and mind of toxic sludge and integrate health practices as top priority.  I learned bout detoxing the liver and sugar resets.  I took breath work classes and I found out that I loved Yin Yoga (ground work with long holds and great release).  I even began to meditate and I came to appreciate the quiet.  Learning to sit still with myself.  Knowing that not every moment has to be filled with an activity or noise.  I learned the art of saying no - (as a people pleaser this was tough but I gradually saw it’s value).  I was finally honoring myself and appreciating my body, my time and my energy.  Self-care,  I call it "energetic hygiene" and it's very important ya'll!  I cant stress it enough.  Take a vested interest in your health.  Arm yourself with knowledge and make better choices if you can, you deserve it!

Good Vibrations!

*We are a living energy field.  Our bodies are composed of energy-producing particles, each of which is in constant motion. So, like everything and everyone else in the universe, we are vibrating and creating energy.  Our bodies are remarkable energetic vessels with superior intelligence but it's s up to us to properly balance this energetic blueprint we have been given.
